While there is no actual town called “Conchal,” the nearby town of Brasilito serves as the closest community. In the area, you’ll find Reserva Conchal, a development that offers high-end townhouses, standalone homes, and condos. This enclave is situated around an 18-hole golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones II, known as one of the top courses in the country. Additionally, Reserva Conchal features an all-inclusive luxury Westin hotel and the first W Hotel in Costa Rica. The development is committed to sustainability, with a reverse osmosis desalination plant providing water for the entire community.

Playa Conchal’s location offers easy access to several national parks and a wide range of outdoor activities. From ziplining and horseback riding to sailing, diving, and deep-sea fishing, there’s no shortage of adventures to embark on. If you’re a golf enthusiast or prefer a resort-style living, Playa Conchal might be the ideal place for you.

For essential services and amenities, the closest major medical facilities are in Liberia, about an hour’s drive from Conchal. Liberia also serves as the main hub for shopping, including home furnishings, auto dealerships, and more. The city houses government offices, an immigration office, and the Guanacaste International Airport, eliminating the need to travel to San Jose for business or shopping. Public transportation, such as buses, can take you to Liberia and south to Tamarindo for additional services.

Within a 30-minute drive, you’ll find everything you need for day-to-day living. Huacas hosts the area’s most comprehensive 24-hour medical clinic, along with a regional hospital. Playa Flamingo offers banking services, while nearby Brasilito and Flamingo have smaller grocery stores and pharmacies. For specialty items, you can visit Super Compro in Huacas, Mega Super and Maxi Pali in Villareal, or AutoMercado in Tamarindo.

Reserva Conchal is a family-friendly community that provides access to two highly regarded international private K-12 schools, CRIA (Costa Rica International Academy) and La Paz. The community attracts expats with its amenities, security, cleanliness, eco-friendly building materials, water usage practices, and proximity to the Gold Coast’s offerings. While owning a vehicle is recommended for easy access to nearby towns, public transportation to Liberia and Tamarindo is available for those without a car.

The population of Conchal is difficult to determine precisely since it is not an official town and lacks census data. However, it is estimated that over 85% of the current residents.

Playa Conchal is considered to be one of the most exotic beaches on the Costa Rican Gold Coast of Guanacaste. Sunsets are a favorite part of the day. Located in between mountains when the sun falls, it makes for beautiful photos. Very relaxing and pretty. There is horseback riding, picnic areas and other vendors on the beach if you need gifts. Even the sands of Playa Conchal are special, comprised of the silky remnants of millions of crushed conch shells. There are tours such as guided rafting, and nocturnal turtle-watching.
