Flamingo has something for everybody, and Costa Rica Real Estate is based in the residential and commercial community of Playa Flamingo. As a result, we know pretty much every activity a homeowner or vacationer might want to do while in the area, located on the Northwest coast on the Pacific Ocean.
People are drawn to Flamingo for its pristine, white sand beach with very calm waves. And, recently, construction has been ongoing on a beautiful new marina for recreational boats and fishing vessels that launch from Flamingo into the blue ocean waters. Many of the boats who leave Flamingo take advantage of the area’s scuba diving, an activity that is noted worldwide for the clear water opportunities to see sea life.
Here is a list of some of the options available for fun in Flamingo:
The fishing off the shores of Flamingo offer plenty of catch and release opportunities for Marlin and Sailfish, and snag a Yellowfin Tuna, Dorado (Mahi-Mahi), Red Snapper, Roosterfish, and other delicious fish. As a matter of fact, the waters are so bountiful that the town has even organizes a sportfishing competition once a year.
There’s really no better place to scuba dive than in the waters near Catalina Island, just a short boat ride from Flamingo. The crystal waters offer the best underwater views hands down. And don’t worry if you are not certified, the local dive companies offer one-day resort courses in local pools, that will have you down under the very next day.
Looking for a simpler look under the ocean? The same companies that ferry scuba divers out to sea, offer a variety of snorkeling options too. And if you just get your own mask and snorkel, head over to the startlingly beautiful Flamingo Beach get a look on your own.
Stand up paddling, or SUP, is the fastest-growing water sport in the world. And its easy, great exercise, and affords some pretty fantastic views of ocean life. With the calmer waters of Flamingo Beach, no previous experience is necessary
Take a half-hour kayak adventure that calms the senses. The local tour operators provide snorkeling equipment for those breaks in paddling.
Adventurous adrenaline junkies will love the jet ski rentals in Flamingo. Take one out alone, or double, head out in the bay or all the way around Las Catalinas. There’s no limit to the fun.
One of the most popular requests we get is the ability to ride horses on the beach. Venture a short way south and ride upon Conchal beach and that area’s trails. Conchal, by the way, is hands down the most beautiful beach in the province of Guanacaste (where Flamingo is located).
With some horsepower under you, there’s no reason you can’t take the ATV or 4WD vehicle on trails from Flamingo all the way to nearby Tamarindo Beach, arguable the most popular beach town in Costa Rica.
Leave Flamingo Bay on a luxury catamaran that features an open bar and light meal. Head out to a private beach for snorkeling, kayaking or hearty swim. Make sure to keep an eye out for schools of dolphins and the occasional whale.
What shall you do when you are not partaking in adventures in Flamingo? Make sure to do a little shopping at the area stores, and top the day off with a gourmet meal at any of the restaurants in Flamingo.
